About the project

The project was situated in Abha, the capital city of Aseer Province, near the Red Sea in southwest Saudi Arabia. The area is characterized by mountainous terrains, existing open channels, and large level differences that were critical to be addressed for maximizing the land utilization within the limited space constraints.

Strata’s geotechnical experts recognized that maximizing land use is the most critical need and has a significant cost impact on any site development. To address these issues, reinforced soil retaining wall with StrataBlock™ fascia was proposed as an alternative, thereby providing the technical basis and economical solution for the land development needs. Utilizing the site-won excavated material as reinforced fill reduced the construction time and the costs associated with imported fill and its transportation.

As an innovative solution, StrataWeb® allowed the contractor to protect the topsoil and prevent erosion.
